COSTINGS
All ISA courses are  €750IC per person for the 5 days of training, to include meals, snacks, refreshments, marina fees and other running costs.

COURSE STYLE
The courses are "residential" . You spend most of the time aboard except at night when we berth in a marina or local harbour and go ashore after evening meal . The reason for this is that candidates can totally immerse themselves in the experience of sailing without distractions associated with going home each evening. We can also visit different ports for variety. In addition, working a cruising yacht is a full time affair and involves a whole range of activities which can only be exprienced by living aboard with your shipmates.

SPECIALISED TRAINING
A variety of courses including
"How to park your boat in the marina without drawing a crowd!
Husband and wife teamwork including skipper overboard drills.

GENERAL

Most summer courses run from Monday to Friday residential aboard the training vessel. The courses include most meals and refreshments.
The cruising area is on the east coast between Wicklow to the south, Malahide to the north, and into Dublin port to the west

Instruction provided by John Leahy, ISA/RYA      yachtmaster instructor with over 40 years of sailing experience. The vessel is a 2003 Rival 41 in pristine condition. She can accommodate 4 students in comfort. All safety and navigational equipment is of course up to the standards laid down by the ISA.

The courses can be used simply to enhance your personal knowledge and seamanship to any required level, making you a better and safer sailor.

They also lead, if desired, to the issue of a variety of ISA certificates, including ICC and YM Coastal or Offshore, which are recognised world-wide. A practical exam is needed to obtain these certificates. .
Clothing
You will need warm clothes, light wet weather gear and a small soft case with your personal effects which should be kept to a minimum.
Courses are fun!!
All courses are designed to be a lot of fun and are seen by most candidates as a combined holiday learning experience. There is no requirement to take an exam at the end of the course.

The Rival 41 is one of the world’s classic offshore cruisers – many have been around the world and over 200 were built. She is cutter rigged – mainsail and 2 foresails + cruising chute which allows for plenty of sail alterations to gain experience.
